Planned Giving

Bequest

"Bequest gifts" refers to contributions to ANERA through your Will.

Bequests can be for a specific dollar amount or for a percentage of your estate. You can also provide a contingent bequest, which would be honored only if other beneficiaries predecease you. Your gift may be in the form of cash, stocks, bonds, or other personal property. Your estate receives an estate tax charitable deduction for the full amount of your cash bequest to ANERA or for the fair market value of other donated assets.

Restricted Bequests

A Restricted Bequest is any will that places conditions on how ANERA must use or expend the money. Any restrictions should be referred to ANERA when drafting the will. That will insure that ANERA can feasibly enact your wishes.

We ask that you include the following language:

“If at anytime the Board of American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) should determine that it is no longer practical to use this fund for the above-described purpose, it may be used for other needs of ANERA in advancement of its mission.”
____________________________________

Since your Will is a legal document and must conform to local statutes, it is advisable that your attorney review this language. If American Near East Refugee Aid becomes a named beneficiary in your will, please let us know so we may acknowledge and thank you for your support. If you wish, this information will be kept confidential.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a will?
A will ensures you are in control of your assets, and outlines how they are to be distributed to the people and causes you care about. Your loved ones won't need to make difficult decisions about the distribution of your estate.

Do I need professional advice to make a will?
By using the services of a practicing legal advisor or trust company, you will ensure your Will is legally correct and your wishes will be followed accurately.

Should I leave a percentage or a set amount?
All bequests, whether large or small, are greatly appreciated. If you leave a percentage of your estate, this will ensure that the value of your gift will not be affected by inflation. If you choose to leave a set amount of your estate, you can specify the exact sum you wish to donate to us.

I’d like my bequest to be used for specific projects. Can I do this?
Yes, you can choose to contribute to the area that interests you. We recommend that you discuss your bequest idea with us to ensure we can help achieve your wish. Contact Us
